Summer Tree, Fungi, and Plant Identification Walk

  • Greyfield Wood Bristol, England, BS39 6YE United Kingdom (map)

Summer Tree, Fungi, and Plant Identification Walk

Get nerdy with me! Learn to identify trees, fungi and plants throughout the seasons.

We'll be looking at seasonal fungi and plants in winter, spring, summer, and autumn. It's an easy walk around some lovely woodland, although it can be muddy so wellies or boots are recommended. No previous experience or plant/fungi knowledge is necessary. Open to all ages, and dogs too!

This is the summer edition, which will cover:

🍄Plants & Fungi

  • We'll look at any seasonal plants and fungi we come across, including their edible and medicinal value, and bushcraft uses.

  • We'll explore the link between mushrooms and trees (and other plants) and how this helps with foraging!

🌳Tree Identification

  • Learn to ID common, widespread, native trees and shrubs.

  • We’ll look at key identifying features on trees - not just the leaves!

  • You’ll learn about the history and folklore of the trees, and their uses in bushcraft and wilderness survival.

  • We’ll talk about trees for food, medicine, cordage, fire, and their importance in the ecosystem.
